In August 2014, we took a week to drive down to Ithaca, NY, the home of Cornell University. Not only is Ithaca home to one out of eight Ivy League schools, it is also surrounded by several State parks with beautiful, breathtaking waterfalls. It is also a charming university town full of life and culture.
The State Parks/Museum We Visited:
- Buttermilk Falls State Park
- Taughannock Falls State Park
- Paleontological Research Institution/Museum of the Earth
We concluded our trip by coming back into Canada through Niagara Falls and then continued on to Hamilton, Ontario where my dad’s brother lives. While we were there, we visited the Escarpment Rail Trail (an abandoned CN line turned into a bicycle trail in 1993, also home to the Hermitage Mansion Ruins) and the HMCS Haida National Historic Site (Canadian Navy’s most famous destroyer).
